Williamstown’s ABC Clothing Shop invites grant applications

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — ABC Clothing Shop, a volunteer- and board-run nonprofit, is now accepting applications for its spring grant cycle. Proceeds from the sale of high-quality, gently used clothing are distributed twice a year to community organizations supporting local charitable causes.

The deadline for spring grant applications is March 1, 2025, and eligible organizations are invited to apply for grants of up to $5,000. Funding criteria and the online application are available at abcclothingshop.org/grants.

Since 2015, ABC Clothing Shop has provided funding to nonprofits that serve at-risk youth and families and address hunger, poverty, and inequality in the community. Recent grant recipients include 18 Degrees, Berkshire Food Project, Berkshire Immigration Center, Elizabeth Freeman Center, Louison House, North County Work Program, Remedy Hall, and ROOTS Teen Center.

ABC Clothing Shop counts Williams College and its students among its strongest supporters, with students remaining some of its most dedicated customers over the years. In addition to providing financial assistance to community organizations, the shop helps reduce waste through clothing reuse while offering an ever-changing selection of apparel to both residents and visitors.

The shop’s roots trace back to the A Better Chance program, a national initiative founded in 1964 to address racial segregation by providing scholarships to low-income students seeking access to rigorous academic opportunities.
