Cohorts in culture Hilary Somers Deely and Barbara Sims explain how they select and curate the dozens of artists and events that make up the three day extravaganza that is the 5th Annual “Made in the Berkshires” Festival.
Curated by Deely and Sims from dozens of open submissions from regional artists, Made in the Berkshires is a locally-grown festival of new works including theatre, film (Cherry Cottage and A Small Good Thing), dance (Albany Berkshire Ballet,
Ruslan Sprague, Funk Box Studio), poetry, music (cellist Ivan Trabka and the Williamstown-based group Long Journey), short stories, performance and visual art.
The arts mavens sit down with Will Call to talk about the tremendous talent on tap in the Berkshires, and why it is so important to bring area artists together to network and perform.
This year’s line-up includes dozens of events and exhibits, and performances at the Berkshire Theatre Group’s Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield and Unicorn Theatre in Stockbridge.
Rock-bottom ticket prices, including a $75 All Festival Pass (literally, you can do it ALL for $75!) For tickets: (413) 997-4444 or visit www.berkshiretheatregroup.org
