Bring your acoustic instruments and join in, or just bring your ears. Traditional tunes jam including Jigs, Reels, Waltzes, Rags and more ! All skill levels welcome. Fiddles, Mandolins, Bodhrans, Guitars, Banjos, Ukuleles, Harmonicas, whistles and any other instruments ARE welcome.
This program takes a cross-section of Viennese musical modes—from operetta to waltz, Beethoven’s Piano Trio which spins on a popular song by Weigl, to Schubert’s sublime testament to his beloved métier, “An die Musik.” And of course, the quintessential café music of Fritz Kreisler, “Caprice Viennois.” In charm, verve, and artistic sophistication, Vienna’s past is unsurpassed.
Join us for a free virtual talk with poet and translator Yermiyahu Ahron Taub, who will be discussing his newly released translation of Frume Halpern’s short story collection Blessed Hands (Frayed Edge Press). He will be joined by Lisa Newman, the Yiddish Book Center’s director of publishing and public programs and the director of White Goat Press, the Yiddish Book Center’s imprint, for a short conversation and Q&A. Shakespeare & Company will host a free, family-friendly Community Day on its 33-acre campus in Lenox, Mass. on Saturday, May 25 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring food, music, and several other Berkshire-based nonprofits on hand to share the myriad ways each serves the region.
