Fiona’s background is in ballet, so her movement is grounded in principles of line and technical precision. The work she creates explores creative narratives of visual art and often possesses a surrealist quality, inviting her audience to envision new worlds. This highly talented group of Juilliard School musicians challenge the so-called “concert hall etiquette” as they collaborate to inspire a new perspective around unconventional chamber music. Audiences in attendance of live classical music often appear to be a sea of statues. Classical music can feel inaccessible to people who have not studied it and the convention of a seemingly required stillness and need to almost meditate in order to truly “understand” the music can exacerbate the disconnect.
