On July 30, 1902, tens of thousands of mourners lined the streets of New York’s Lower East Side to bid farewell to the city’s chief rabbi, Jacob Joseph. All went well until the procession reached Grand and Sheriff Streets, where scraps of steel, iron bolts, and scalding water rained down and injured hundreds of mourners, becoming the single largest antisemitic incident in American history.

The South Williamstown Community Association (SWCA) in partnership with Williamstown Rural Lands (WRL) invites the public to our Spring Repair Café at Sheep Hill, 671 Cold Spring Road (Route 7) on Saturday afternoon, April 19th from 1 to 4 p.m. Volunteer “fixers” will be onsite to repair a number of items including: small electrical items, wooden furniture, costume jewelry, leather, small window screens, and clothing. There will also be computer advice, blade sharpening (knives, scissors, small tools), and simple bike repairs. We are continuing to partner with the BagShare Project to make reusable shopping bags. We’ll have materials and grommet
