Winter Tree Identification, The Boulders, Dalton

Enjoy a hike at The Boulders while you get to know trees up close and personal. We will learn techniques to help identify trees in the winter and discuss the natural history of some of our more common species of trees.

Difficulty: Moderate (slight elevation change), 2.8 miles round-trip

What to Bring: Please bring water, wear sturdy footwear and wear layers. Consider snowshoes or microspikes depending on the weather. BNRC has a few pairs of both to loan if needed.

Directions:

The parking area is to the left of the house at this address: 1051 Dalton Ave, Pittsfield, MA 01201 and across from Hubbard Avenue. There is a stone staircase and informational kiosk entering the south access to The Boulders Reserve.
